TwentySix Restaurant looks like a conservatory garden
Tucked away in an unassuming building in the city of Budapest is one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve eaten in during my year abroad. Twentysix Restaurant is a beautiful city garden that can be easily missed if you don’t know what you’re looking for. While the breakfast menu is pretty standard, Lunch and dinner service features healthy Mediterranean cuisine.
During my group trip to Hungary in November, I stole some time for myself out of the incredibly packed itinerary and had breakfast at Twentysix. I had been scrolling in my Instagram explore looking for places to eat, and the restaurant popped up as a place that I had to visit.
My travel buddies were too tired to wake up and come with me, so I decided to do what I do best… go by myself. I double checked my Citymapper for my travel directions and bought my travel pass in the Budapest Go app, and set out on my solo breakfast side quest.
This happened on the final day of my 72-hour stint in Budapest, and I’m glad I pushed myself to go.
The Breakfast Menu. The prices are in Hungarian Forint (It’s less than the pound, so don’t get thrown off by the prices)
What i ordered
To kick things off, I ordered a Yellow Smoothie. This mango-banana fusion was amazing, and for once, the smoothie was blended in a way that didn’t allow the Banana to overtake the flavour profile. It had a very rich golden yellow texture, which I attributed to the turmeric, and it tasted like wellness in a cup. ( 5/5)
I broke my fast with a classic Eggs Benedict with Salmon, and the creamy hollandaise sauce was my favourite part. It married well with my egg yolk once I popped my egg, and the bread was fluffy at the centre of the slice and crisp around the edges. (3.5/5)
A wonderfully warm Apple Crumble (3.5/5) rounded out my meal, and I washed it down with a Mango Bellini (5/5) breakfast cocktail. My dessert was sweet and had the right amount of crumble on top. The food service was very good, and the turnover rate on tables was quite good. I booked a reservation online, arrived slightly early and was seated in record time.
Both my smoothie and my eggs Benedict were topped with paprika, which is one of Hungary’s major exports to the world and a staple topping for Hungarian cuisine.
The ambience and the views were 10/10. The food is a strong 7/10, and because I didn’t try Lunch or Dinner, I have this restaurant high on the list of places that I would try to revisit to eat.

Say Szia (hello) to Mr Eggs Benedict
Apart from stuffing my face, I also had an amazing time soaking up my surroundings and grabbing photos to share. I remain obsessed with the layout of the restaurant and the atmosphere that the staff have managed to curate and maintain.
I also managed to get a single photograph to share with my post, courtesy of one of the waiters.
